The Responsible AI Disclosure Act of 2024 requires federal financial regulators to conduct a study on standardized descriptions for artificial intelligence systems used by financial institutions and their vendors. Within six months, the regulators must report findings and recommendations to Congress on whether federal law should be revised to require disclosure of AI training data sources, synthetic versus genuine data ratios, model design, and compliance with anti-discrimination and consumer protection laws. After the report, regulators may require financial entities and AI vendors to report or publicly disclose standardized information about their AI systems if the regulators determine they have authority to do so.
