Terms of Service

Last updated · May 7, 2026

These terms govern your use of DeepSyte™. Plain language, no surprises. By using the service you agree to them; if you don't, please don't use the service.

Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, taking the values quiz, subscribing to Pro, or otherwise using DeepSyte (“the service”), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

The service

DeepSyte is a nonpartisan civic accountability tool. It surfaces U.S. federal legislation, scores it against your stated policy positions, and tracks how your representatives vote, what they say publicly, and how those two compare. We provide both free and paid (“Pro”) features.

The service is provided “as is.” Data is sourced from public records (Congress.gov, FEC, House Clerk, Senate eFD, curated news outlets) and is refreshed regularly, but we do not guarantee that every record is current to the minute or free of upstream errors.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By signing up, you represent that you are at least 13 and have the legal capacity to enter into these terms. The service is designed primarily for users in the United States; you are responsible for compliance with applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

Accounts

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your password secure and not sharing your account credentials
  • The accuracy of the information you provide (email, address, quiz answers)
  • All activity that occurs under your account

Notify us at hello@deepsyte.app immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use that you don't promptly report.

Pro subscriptions

Pro is a recurring subscription. Two pricing options are available: monthly ($5.00 USD per month) or annual ($50.00 USD per year). The founding-member rate listed at the time you subscribe applies for the life of your continuous subscription — even after we raise the published price for new subscribers.

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited (“Paddle”), our payment processor and merchant of record. Paddle handles all card data and billing operations; we receive only subscription metadata (status, period dates) and never see your card details. Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to the payment relationship.

Renewals. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the rate locked in when you first subscribed, unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will not change your rate without notifying you in advance.

Cancellation. You can cancel any time via your billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then. See our Refund Policy for refund-eligible scenarios.

Quotas. Pro members get up to 30 AI deep-reads per day per feature (bill, rep, race, head-to-head). These limits prevent abuse and let us run the service reliably; they are not a guarantee of unlimited usage.

AI-generated content

The service uses specially tuned AI to summarize bills, score rep consistency, analyze races, and compare reps head-to-head. AI-generated content is clearly labeled wherever it appears. You agree that:

  • AI summaries and analyses can contain errors. We make a good-faith effort to ground every claim in the underlying data, but the model can misread, miss context, or misinterpret. Always verify against primary sources before acting on anything important.
  • Alignment scores, vulnerability indices, and consistency ratings are informational starting points, not verdicts. They reflect a specific scoring methodology described in our About & Methodology page.
  • The service is not legal, financial, electoral, or investment advice. Vote however you want; we're here to help you read the record.

Your content

When you submit content to the service (quiz answers, alert subscriptions, address, waitlist notes), you retain ownership. You grant us a limited license to use that content solely to provide the service to you — generating your alignment scores, sending the alerts you subscribed to, etc. We do not use your content for any other purpose, sell it, or share it with third parties beyond the operational vendors listed in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically download the service for redistribution or commercial use
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code (except as permitted by law)
  • Use the service to harass, defame, or impersonate others — including but not limited to politicians or candidates
  • Submit knowingly false or misleading information (e.g., a fake address to manipulate your representative tracking)
  • Attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, or security measures
  • Use automated tools to create accounts, complete the quiz, or trigger AI analyses
  • Resell or sublicense your access to Pro features
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable law

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Intellectual property

The service, its design, the DeepSyte name and logo, and all original content (excluding public-source data and your own content) are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission, except as expressly allowed by these terms or by fair-use doctrine.

Public-source data (bill text, roll-call votes, FEC filings) belongs to its respective sources and is in the public domain. Our scoring, summaries, and analyses are derivative works that are subject to our copyright.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will always be current.

Specifically: we are not responsible for the accuracy of upstream data sources (Congress.gov outages, FEC delayed filings, news outlet errors), AI model output errors, or third-party services (Paddle billing, Resend email delivery, etc.) being temporarily unavailable.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the greater of (a) $100 USD or (b) the amount you have paid us for Pro subscriptions in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DeepSyte and its operators from any claim, demand, or damages arising from your violation of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your infringement of any third-party right. We will notify you of any claim subject to indemnification and cooperate reasonably with your defense.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by emailing hello@deepsyte.app or following the in-app account-deletion flow. Pro subscribers should cancel via the billing portal first; account deletion does not automatically refund unused subscription time (see Refund Policy).

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if continuing to provide service would create undue legal risk. Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to cure.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification, governing law) survive any termination of these terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, U.S.A., without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing a formal complaint, please email hello@deepsyte.app — most issues can be resolved directly without litigation.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and notify active users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree to the changes, your remedy is to close your account.
