The HIRE CREDIT Act amends the Internal Revenue Code to expand the work opportunity tax credit to include displaced disaster victims. Employers who hire individuals who lost their homes or jobs in federally declared major disasters occurring after January 1, 2024, within one year of the disaster, may claim a tax credit for wages paid to these workers.
