This bill amends the Consumer Product Safety Act to increase the Consumer Product Safety Commission's reliance on voluntary industry safety standards. Under the amendment, when the Commission determines that a voluntary standard would adequately reduce product injury risks but expects low compliance, it may only issue a mandatory federal safety standard if that standard is identical to the voluntary standard or includes at least one compliance method identical to it.
