This bill requires health insurance plans to cover infertility treatment and fertility preservation services. Plans that offer obstetrical coverage must provide coverage for assisted reproductive technology procedures (such as in vitro fertilization) and other infertility treatments determined appropriate by a treating provider, as well as fertility preservation services for individuals undergoing medical treatments that may cause infertility. The bill applies to both group health plans and individual health insurance coverage, and prohibits plans from imposing higher cost-sharing for these services than for similar services, or from penalizing providers who deliver them.
