Summary

Official CRS summary

This bill requires the Department of the Interior to design and deliver modernized electronic permitting systems. Specifically, those systems must (1) be able to accept, process, and record applications for permits, forms, and other paperwork required for activities regulated by Interior; and (2) provide a centralized electronic permitting system online repository available to the public on its website. Interior must also ensure that the systems are consistent with priorities identified under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 with respect to digital technologies and a permitting portal. Interior must provide periodic updates to Congress on this bill's implementation.
