Official CRS summary

This bill limits the President's use of authorities under the Defense Production Act of 1950 (DPA), which confers upon the President a broad set of authorities to influence domestic industry in the interest of national defense. Specifically, the bill prohibits the use of certain authorities under the DPA with respect to electric vehicles, electric vehicle batteries, electric vehicle charging stations or infrastructure, or obtaining critical minerals for use in manufacturing of any such items.
