The HEALTHY BRAINS Act of 2024 amends the Public Health Service Act to establish a National Institutes of Health program for research, training, and information dissemination on environmental risk factors contributing to neurodegenerative diseases. The bill authorizes the creation of Collaborative Centers for Neurodegenerative Disease Environmental Research at academic and medical institutions to conduct research on environmental toxicants, occupational exposures, and other environmental factors linked to neurodegeneration. The centers would also provide training, public education, and establish data systems and clearinghouses to share findings. The bill authorizes $50 million annually from fiscal years 2026 through 2030 for these activities.
