To direct the Secretary of Education to deem each month for which certain Federal student loans are in deferment during a period of active duty service as months counted toward public service loan forgiveness, and for other purposes.

This bill amends the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program to count months during which federal student loans are in deferment or forbearance while a borrower is on active duty military service as qualifying months toward forgiveness. It also requires the Departments of Defense and Education to conduct annual data matching to identify military members and DoD civilians who made qualifying loan payments and to certify their service periods and payment counts without requiring further action from the individuals.
