The VENUE Act amends federal criminal procedure law to establish new venue rules for offenses committed in the National Capital Region on federal property. Under the bill, indictments or informations for such offenses would be filed in the district of the defendant's last known residence, or in the District of Columbia if no residence is known. Defendants would have a right to request transfer of their case to the district where they are domiciled, with priority given to the first defendant to file such a motion; however, defendants not domiciled in the United States would be ineligible to request transfer.
