The No Shame at School Act amends the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to require schools to automatically certify eligible students for free or reduced-price meals and to prohibit stigmatizing practices against students with unpaid meal debt. The bill mandates that schools attempt direct certification for children whose households owe a week or more in unpaid fees, and bars schools from using special tokens, announcements, physical segregation, withholding grades or activities, or disposing of already-served food based on a student's debt status. Schools are also prohibited from directing debt collection communications to children or using debt collectors to pursue unpaid meal fees.
