The Informing Grandfamilies Act amends the Social Security Act to require states to provide written notice and guidance to kinship caregivers (such as grandparents and other relatives) who seek assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. States must inform kinship caregivers of their legal options, available benefits and services, guardianship assistance payments, and contact information for kinship navigator programs and community resources. States must also employ a resource employee or contract with a community-based organization to provide ongoing guidance to kinship caregivers on eligibility requirements, legal custody options, and how benefits may affect eligibility for other programs.
