The Stop Militarizing Our Streets Act of 2024 amends federal law to restrict the Department of Defense's sales and procurement of firearms and ammunition. The bill prohibits DoD from selling military-grade assault weapons or certain ammunition to commercial dealers and bars DoD from procuring firearms or ammunition from manufacturers and dealers who sell such weapons commercially. For other firearms and ammunition, the bill establishes strict requirements for dealers—including licensing, crime-trace limits, ammunition purchase caps, security measures, employee training, and electronic inventory tracking—that must be met for DoD to purchase from them.
