Summary
This bill amends the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 to simplify Form 5500 filing requirements for employee benefit plan administrators. It extends the filing deadline from 210 days after the close of a plan year to 15 days after the end of the 9th calendar month following the close of the plan year. The bill also requires the Treasury Department, Department of Labor, and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation to modernize filing statements to permit electronic signatures on required returns and reports.
