Summary
This bill amends the Agricultural Credit Act of 1978 to authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to restore and manage floodplain easements acquired under the Emergency Watershed Program. The bill grants the Secretary authority to restore vegetative cover and hydrological functions, monitor and maintain these lands, and authorize compatible uses such as hunting, fishing, timber harvest, and grazing if consistent with long-term floodplain protection. It also permits the Secretary to undertake restoration measures that exceed the minimum needed to address immediate watershed impairment if determined to benefit long-term watershed health.
