The Energy Consumer Protection Act of 2026 amends the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act to strengthen enforcement against market violations. It authorizes the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to prohibit or suspend persons who violate certain provisions from engaging in the business of purchasing or selling electric energy, energy products, natural gas, or transmission services. The bill also adds a new prohibition on willfully filing false information about natural gas transportation and sales to federal or private price-reporting agencies with intent to defraud.
