This bill amends federal commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operator testing requirements to mandate English language proficiency. Beginning two years after enactment, individuals must demonstrate the ability to understand and communicate in English to pass CMV knowledge tests and receive certification, including reading traffic signs, communicating with law enforcement and checkpoint personnel, and providing/receiving directions. The bill prohibits CMV knowledge tests from being administered in any language other than English.
