This bill prohibits the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from using federal funds to plan, construct, lease, operate, or maintain an immigration detention facility within or adjacent to the Everglades ecosystem in Florida. The bill also grants Members of Congress and designated congressional staff the right to conduct announced or unannounced inspections of all DHS detention facilities, and requires the DHS Inspector General to submit a report within 90 days evaluating the facility's compliance with federal detention standards, complaints from detainees, and ecological and safety risks.
