Congressman Aderholt Applauds New Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) released the following statement on the new Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program (RHPAP) established through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). “As Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee overseeing health funding, I was proud to secure and advance the Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program through the Fiscal Year 2026 Consolidated Appropriations Act,” said Congressman Robert Aderholt. “This initiative reflects a deliberate commitment to ensuring our rural hospitals have the resources they need to survive and serve their communities. Through this program, eligible hospitals will receive direct financial assistance to help maintain and strengthen essential healthcare services.” Almost 30 rural hospitals in Alabama are eligible to apply for the grant, five of which are in Alabama’s Fourth Congressional District: Fayette, Lakeland, Marion Regional, Northwest, and Russellville. The amount of each grant will be determined by the total number of eligible hospitals, but it’s currently estimated that each hospital will receive close to $150,000. Applications will close on July 1, 2026. Read more about the Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program here. Issues:Health Care

Aderholt Cosponsors Resolution to Strengthen Transparency and Accountability in Congressional Settlements

Position: Congressman Aderholt supports a resolution requiring Members of Congress to publicly disclose details of legal settlements paid with federal funds within 30 days, with penalties for non-compliance including suspension from committee assignments.

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) today announced that he has joined as a cosponsor of H.Res. 1164, a resolution aimed at increasing transparency and accountability when Members of Congress use taxpayer funds to settle legal claims. H.Res. 1164 would require any Member who uses federal funds for a settlement to appear publicly before the House within 30 days to disclose the details of the payment, including the nature of the claim and whether reimbursement to the U.S. Treasury has been made. Members who fail to comply would face suspension or removal from committee assignments and leadership positions. “Taxpayer dollars should never be used in secret to settle cases involving misconduct,” said Congressman Aderholt. “The American people deserve transparency and accountability from those elected to serve them. This resolution ensures that Members of Congress are held to a clear standard and cannot quietly resolve serious allegations without public disclosure.” The resolution was introduced by Congresswoman Stephanie Bice (R-OK) and Congressman Josh Brecheen (R-OK) as a commonsense alternative to prior proposals that raised concerns about due process. By focusing on instances where a settlement has been reached, H.Res. 1164 establishes a clear and fair threshold for disclosure while protecting the rights of all parties involved. “By requiring Members to publicly disclose settlements paid with taxpayer funds, this resolution brings much-needed sunlight to the process,” Aderholt added. “Greater transparency will help restore trust in Congress and ensure that misconduct is not hidden from the people we represent.” Supporters of the resolution emphasize that it strengthens good governance by ensuring accountability while safeguarding the privacy of victims.

Generational investment has regional impact

Generational investment has regional impact | Commentaries | timesdaily.com On March 20 we marked the beginning of something truly significant, not just for one community, but for all of north Alabama. The announcement of a $2 billion investment in northwest Alabama is more than a milestone. It is a generational opportunity that will help reshape north Alabama’s economy for decades to come. Projects like this do not happen overnight. They are the result of years of preparation, partnership, and persistence. This happened because people believed in this community, and because we made a deliberate effort to bring opportunity back to places that had been overlooked. There are more than 120 countries in the world that do not spend $2 billion a year on their entire military. That shows the level of investment that is now being made right here in north Alabama. This investment is a direct result of the One Big Beautiful Bill, passed under President Trump’s leadership, and the work we did to ensure communities like ours were included. That legislation includes a $400 million investment to expand a collaborative campus for naval shipbuilding, building advanced manufacturing and workforce training capacity for the next generation. This is not just a line in a bill. It is a strategy, and it is taking shape here at home. Investments of this scale do not stay within one particular county. They ripple outward, creating opportunities across communities, industries, and families. We have seen this before. When automobile manufacturers came to Alabama, they built more than plants. They built entire ecosystems. Suppliers followed, small businesses expanded, and workforce training programs grew. That same ripple effect is now within reach for our area, From Colbert County to DeKalb County, from Barton to Boaz, this investment will create opportunities far beyond the footprint of the facility. The Hadrian project alone is expected to bring at least 1,000 direct jobs with many more created through supporting industries and supply chains. This is a Factory of the Future. What is done manually elsewhere will be done automatically here. The people working in this facility will operate advanced equipment, apply specialized skills, and help lead the next generation of American manufacturing. These are not just jobs, they are careers. They will be well-trained, well-compensated positions that support our national security and reward both skill and dedication. This facility will require a highly skilled workforce, strengthening partnerships with our schools, community colleges, and workforce programs. For young people, this creates a new pathway to gain the training they need and step directly into high-quality careers without leaving home. I’ve heard it time and again, opportunities like this mean our young people can stay here and build good-paying, long-term careers close to home. It will also mean growth for small businesses, the backbone of our local economies. Just as important is how this fits into a bigger picture across our state. This is not about competing with Huntsville or the Gulf Coast, it is about strengthening and completing what Alabama is building. People will invent in Huntsville, craft and create it along the river, and export it through Mobile. With access to the Tennessee River and the Port of Mobile, this becomes a powerful line of commerce from the Tennessee Valley to the world. Shipping by water is dramatically more cost effective than trucking, giving Alabama a clear competitive advantage. At the same time, investments like the Coast Guard training campus at Birmingham-Southern further strengthen Alabama’s role in maritime operations and national defense. Together, this creates a more complete system, one that expands opportunity, strengthens our supply chain, and grows our workforce. In many ways, Alabama is becoming to national defense what Hollywood is to movies, a place where talent, infrastructure, and innovation come together to produce something essential for the nation. For decades, some communities have worked to recover from lost industries. That is something I have made it a priority to change, and now that work is paying off. This project represents more than economic development. It represents a renewed sense of possibility. And we are just getting started. This $2 billion investment is not just a win for today. It is a foundation for tomorrow and the decades ahead, and its impact will be felt across every corner of north Alabama. Issues:DefenseEconomy

House Values Action Team Statement Condemning Holy Week Attacks on Christians in Nigeria

Position: The House Values Action Team condemns violent attacks on Christians in Nigeria and calls on the Nigerian government to increase security measures to protect Christian worship. The statement references bipartisan legislation conditioning U.S. security assistance to Nigeria on improved protection of religious minorities and warns that failure to act could prompt the U.S. to reevaluate its bilateral relationship.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Robert Aderholt, Chairman of the House Values Action Team; joined by VAT Co-Chair Congressman Josh Brecheen; VAT Co-Chair Congresswoman Mary Miller; Congressman Chris Smith, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Africa of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs; Congressman Riley Moore and Members of the House VAT released the following statement in response to the violent Palm Sunday attacks on Christians in Nigeria: “This Palm Sunday, reports from Nigeria indicate that more than thirty Christians were murdered in the city of Jos, the largest city in Plateau State. We deeply condemn these atrocities, as no one should face violence and death for their faith. “The continued brutal persecution of Christians in Nigeria is a moral outrage, and another example of targeted violence against Christians on holy days in Nigeria which has become a tragic, but predictable pattern in recent years. As Members of Congress, we will continue to condemn these attacks, hold perpetrators of murder and violence accountable, and support the Administration in ensuring that U.S. foreign policy protects people of faith at an international scale. Earlier this year Congress passed bipartisan legislation conditioning U.S. security assistance to Nigeria on Abuja stepping up and defending our brothers and sisters in Christ. As we enter the end of Holy Week and approach Easter Sunday, the Nigerian government must drastically ramp up security measures across known hotspots in the Middle Belt to protect the right of Christians to worship freely. Failure to do so will result in more bloodshed and could force the U.S. to reevaluate our bilateral relationship.” The statement was signed by House VAT Members including: Rep. August Pfluger (TX-11) Rep. Addison McDowell (NC-06) Rep. Barry Moore (AL-01) Rep. Daniel Webster (FL-11) Rep. Gary Palmer (AL-06) Rep. Jim Baird (IN-04) Rep. John Carter (TX-31) Rep. Congressman Robert Aderholt's Statement in Support of H.R. 7084; Defending American Property Abroad Act

Position: Congressman Aderholt supports H.R. 7084, the Defending American Property Abroad Act, which authorizes U.S. action against foreign governments that seize American business assets. He argues the legislation protects American companies, workers, and economic interests from unlawful foreign seizure.

Extension of Remarks in in Support of H.R. 7084; Defending American Property Abroad Act: Mr. Speaker, Today, the U.S. House of Representatives is acting in response to a situation in which a foreign government shut down an American company’s operations, seized its property, and ignored the rule of law. When an American business is targeted in this way, it is not just an attack on one company, it is an attack on American workers, American jobs, and American interests. Vulcan Materials, an Alabama company, has lawfully operated for 35 years in Mexico. Yet the Mexican government illegally seized its assets. If this can happen to an Alabama company today, it can happen to any American business tomorrow. That is why this legislation, H.R. 7084, the Defending American Property Abroad Act is so important. It allows the United States to take real action against foreign entities that seize American property. This is about fairness and accountability. It is about ensuring that American companies and workers are not punished for following the rules while foreign governments face no consequences for breaking them. With this, we are ensuring protection for American companies that operate in the Western Hemisphere. The protection of American property rights overseas is essential not only for economic growth but also for our national and economic security. When we stand up for our businesses, we stand up for the workers and communities who depend on them. I am proud to support H.R. 7084 because it defends American property owners from wrongful seizure and sends a clear message: the United States will stand beside its companies, its workers, and its values. Congressman Aderholt Joins U.S. Navy Secretary and Alabama Delegation: Ribbon Cutting on $2.4 Billion Submarine Factory in Cherokee

CHEROKEE, Ala – On Friday, Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) spoke alongside local and national leaders at a landmark ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new $2.4 billion public-private defense industrial facility in Cherokee, Alabama. The facility in Barton Riverfront Industrial Park is part of a broader public-private effort to strengthen the U.S. maritime industrial base, representing more than $2 billion in combined investment and up to 1,000 new manufacturing jobs for the area. “It was a privilege to help open an event that has been years in the making, an effort that many worked toward and believed in. This 2.2 million square foot facility will now be a symbol of U.S. defense, anchoring shipbuilding and maritime production in Northwest Alabama. Proving that maritime dominance is not just a coastal priority. This project didn’t happen by accident. It happened because people believed in this community, and because we made a deliberate effort to bring opportunities back to places that had been overlooked. This facility is only part of a much larger opportunity, and I intend to keep working until that full potential is realized. Because that’s what this community has always done. America needs sea power more than ever, and Alabama is up to the challenge. We will build a 21st century collaborative campus here that no conventional shipyard or industrial park can rival. With the leadership of President Trump and Republican majorities in Congress, we passed the One Big Beautiful Bill, legislation focused on restoring American strength. And I worked to ensure that communities like ours were part of that vision. Alongside my colleagues in the Alabama delegation, we helped turn that vision into reality right here at home. By investing in workforce training and building the right partnerships, we made sure Alabama’s Fourth Congressional District would be ready when opportunity came and ready to compete for the kind of jobs that strengthen both our economy and our national security. And Friday, we saw that work pay off. This facility will help bring thousands of manufacturing jobs and new opportunities to Northwest Alabama. But just as importantly, it will help restore America’s ability to produce the tools necessary to defend freedom and maintain strength at sea. I want to thank Secretary of the Navy John C. Phelan, Senator Tuberville, Senator Britt, Senator Wicker, and Armed Services Chairman Mike Rogers. We all worked diligently in the crafting of the One Big Beautiful Bill to make this happen today. But government alone doesn’t build something like this. Thank you to AE Industrial Partners and AE Shoals, Hadrian, Retirement Systems of Alabama , and the Shoals Economic Development Authority for believing in this vision and making a generational investment in the region. This is just the beginning of a stronger region, a stronger workforce, and a stronger United States of America.” Issues:DefenseEconomy
