This bill requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services, through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to collect and disseminate information on concussion and traumatic brain injury among public safety officers, including research on evidence-based practices, personal protective equipment, and treatment protocols. The bill directs the CDC to update its website on traumatic brain injury and develop additional means to share this information with medical professionals, public safety employers, mental health professionals, patients and families, and researchers. The Secretary may also support public and private efforts to develop model guidelines and evidence-based practices for treating concussion and traumatic brain injury in public safety officers through grants, contracts, or cooperative agreements.
