This bill directs the Secretary of Agriculture to establish a program providing cooperative agreements with state, local, and tribal governments to increase purchases of local foods from farmers and producers. Participating entities would use funds to buy unprocessed or minimally processed local foods, with at least 25 percent coming from small, mid-size, beginning, or veteran farmers; provide technical assistance to local producers; and distribute foods through nonprofits and other organizations. The bill authorizes $200 million annually from the Commodity Credit Corporation for fiscal years 2026 onward, with 10 percent allocated to tribal governments and 1 percent to each state.
