The Greyhound Protection Act of 2025 amends the Animal Welfare Act to prohibit commercial greyhound racing, live lure training, and open field coursing involving greyhounds moved in interstate or foreign commerce. The bill makes it unlawful to conduct greyhound racing with betting, engage in live lure training or coursing using live animals as bait, facilitate simulcast betting on greyhound races, or knowingly sell, transport, or train greyhounds for these purposes. Violations carry penalties of up to 7 years imprisonment and fines. The provisions take effect October 1, 2027.
