Summary
The bill redesignates the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore as the Apostle Islands National Park and Preserve, comprised of a national park area and a national preserve area with boundaries shown on a map dated October 2024. It directs the Secretary of the Interior to administer the unit as a single National Park System unit, prohibits hunting and trapping in the park (except where permitted under Tribal treaty, statute, or executive order), and continues hunting, trapping, and fishing practices in the preserve as they existed before enactment. The bill also requires interpretive signage and a copy of the Act at principal visitor centers, and states that it does not affect treaty or reserved rights of any Tribe.
