This bill amends the Social Security Act to require hospitals, critical access hospitals, and rural emergency hospitals to ask patients about their citizenship status on intake forms as a condition of participating in the Medicare program. Hospitals would be required to submit annual reports to the Secretary of Health and Human Services documenting the number of noncitizen patients served and the dollar amount of uncompensated care provided to them. The Secretary would also be required to publish an annual public report on the total uncompensated care furnished to noncitizens and estimated federal expenditures related to such care under Medicare and Medicaid.
