Summary
This bill directs the Department of the Interior to assist Tribal governments in managing buffalo and restoring buffalo populations on Indian land. The Secretary of the Interior is authorized to enter into contracts, cooperative agreements, and grants with Indian Tribes and Tribal organizations to support buffalo restoration, habitat management, commercial activities related to buffalo, and meat processing facilities. The bill also requires the Secretary to consult with Tribes on Department initiatives affecting buffalo and to develop buffalo management policies in accordance with Tribal laws and approved management programs. The bill's authority expires seven years after enactment.
