Summary
The OHH SNAP Act of 2026 amends the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to expand Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility for students. The bill allows students with a student aid index equal to or less than zero and students determined to be independent under certain criteria of the Higher Education Act to qualify for SNAP benefits. It also removes a provision that previously excluded educational loans from SNAP income calculations and modifies work requirements to allow time spent attending higher education institutions to count toward SNAP participation requirements.
