Summary
This bill amends Medicare (title XVIII of the Social Security Act) to expand coverage of genetic counseling services furnished by licensed or certified genetic counselors, effective January 1, 2027. Medicare would cover these services at 80 percent of the lesser of the actual charge or 85 percent of the physician fee schedule amount. The bill defines eligible genetic counselors as those licensed by their state or, in non-licensing states, certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling, and prohibits balance billing by these providers.
