The Geo POWER Act establishes a Milestone-Based Geothermal Demonstration Program to fund next-generation geothermal electricity projects in regions with limited or no existing geothermal generation. The program provides innovative financing to projects that meet technical and financial milestones, prioritizing those in new geologies, on or near Indian lands, and those that generate public data to support future geothermal development. The Secretary of Energy must award financing to at least three different projects in at least three different states within 180 days of enactment.
