The Wildfire Smoke Emergency Declaration Act of 2026 authorizes the President to declare a smoke emergency in states experiencing significant air quality degradation from wildland fire smoke. Upon such a declaration, the bill allows the federal government, through FEMA and other agencies, to provide assistance including grants, equipment, supplies, and resources for smoke shelters and air monitoring.
