This bill amends Medicare law to prohibit Medicare Advantage plans from requiring prior authorization, prescription requirements, or medical documentation for repairs to complex rehabilitation technology (such as power wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs). The prohibition applies to plan years beginning January 1 following enactment. Prior authorization may still be required for initial medical necessity evaluations, replacements due to loss or irreparable damage, or when the technology reaches its reasonable useful lifetime or has been in use for 5 years.
