Summary
The Congressional Pension Accountability Act amends federal retirement law to make congressional service noncreditable toward pension eligibility for members who are expelled from Congress or who resign after an ethics committee finds substantial reason to believe they violated the Code of Official Conduct or applicable standards. Members whose service becomes noncreditable receive a refund of their contributions but forfeit future annuity payments and, under the Federal Employees Retirement System, government contributions to their Thrift Savings Plan. Presidential pardons do not restore forfeited pensions.
