Summary
The bill amends the Food Security Act of 1985 to establish the Driftless Area Landscape Conservation Initiative, a program to reduce erosion and restore cold water stream corridors in the Driftless Area of the Midwestern United States. The initiative would provide financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers and landowners to implement climate-smart farming practices, improve soil health, sequester carbon, restore prairies and woodlands, and restore stream habitats. The program would also support grassroots partnerships to educate landowners on sustainable agriculture practices. The bill authorizes $5 million annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2031.
