Katie Meyer's Law requires institutions of higher education to adopt a policy providing students accused of code-of-conduct violations with the option to be assisted by an adviser during the adjudication process. Students may select an outside adviser or request that the institution provide an independent adviser, who must be trained on institutional procedures and may participate as an advocate or as authorized by state law and Title IX. The bill also amends the Higher Education Act to require institutions to disclose incidents of suicide reported to campus security authorities or local police agencies.
