The Kids Safety on Set Act of 2026 requires individuals working on entertainment industry projects to pass a federal criminal background check screening for offenses involving violence, sex, stalking, or crimes against minors if they will have supervisory duties, compulsory authority over, or frequent private interaction with minors. The background check must be completed within 90 days before employment and cost no more than $100, paid by the entertainment entity. Violations can result in civil penalties up to twice the production costs and court orders halting production until the violating employee is terminated or divested of ownership interests.
