WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Young Kim (CA-40) and Congressman Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10) introduced the bipartisan Tell the Government Once Act to let Americans update their address with multiple federal agencies through a single online form.
Every year, millions of Americans move residences and must notify federal agencies like the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Social Security Administration (SSA), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and U.S. Postal Service (USPS) one at a time. The IRS alone says a change of address generally takes 45 days to process. Missing even one agency can have serious consequences. Tax refunds, veterans' benefits, Social Security payments, and important government notices can be delayed or sent to an outdated address.
The Tell the Government Once Act would streamline this outdated process by directing the General Services Administration (GSA) to create one voluntary form on Login.gov, which supports more than 180 million user accounts today. Through this secure online portal, Americans would verify their identity, enter a new address once, and decide which agencies receive it.
“Moving is stressful and expensive enough without having to track down four different federal agencies to tell each one the exact same thing,” said Rep. Young Kim. “A tax refund or a veteran’s benefit check should never go to the wrong address because of one missed form. My Tell the Government Once Act cuts through the bureaucracy so families can spend less time dealing with redundant paperwork and more time settling into their new homes.”
“We should be looking for every opportunity to make the government more efficient and easier to navigate for the American people,” said Rep. Suhas Subramanyam. “This bill does exactly that by allowing Americans to change their address though a single simple web form instead of through complicated agency documents. Participants included SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, which hosted the roundtable, as well as the National Apartment Association, AARES, NPHS, Inland Empire Community Foundation, NeighborWorks Orange County, Wescom Credit Union, Arrowhead Credit Union, Eagle Community Credit Union, POLAM Federal Credit Union, Financial Partners Credit Union, California’s Credit Unions, and the California Association of Realtors.
California has some of the highest housing costs in the country, and only 22% of households in the state can afford a median-priced home, half the national rate. To help close that gap, Rep. Kim secured two of her provisions in the historic bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which became law in July. Her Community Investment and Prosperity Act unlocks more private capital for affordable housing by raising the cap on what banks can invest in community development. Her VALID Act helps veterans make informed choices by ensuring they see VA home loan options alongside conventional and FHA loans.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – Today, Congresswoman Young Kim (CA-40) convened a roundtable of federal, state, and local firefighting agencies, wildfire innovation and policy partners, and wildfire technology companies to discuss barriers to adopting cutting-edge wildfire technologies and how the federal government can help get lifesaving tools onto the fireground faster.
Participants included the Orange County Fire Authority, Anaheim Fire and Rescue, City of Orange Fire Department, U.S. Wildland Fire Service, U.S. Forest Service, FireWERX, Irvine Ranch Conservancy, Megafire Action, ALERTCalifornia, Earth Fire Alliance, Metrea, Paladin, and Tablet.
While state and local agencies are advancing wildfire innovation, federal land management agencies lack a streamlined process to test and deploy emerging technologies. The Orange County Fire Authority has established its own Fire Innovation Unit, and California recently passed SB 1079 to create a similar unit within CAL FIRE.
Rep. Kim’s Fire Innovation Unit Act would bring this approach to the federal level by allowing companies, nonprofits, and universities to test new tools alongside firefighting agencies. The legislation would establish clear performance standards and coordinate procurement to help proven technologies move more quickly from testing to the fire line.
“Our first responders are stretched thin, and we need every tool available to protect our communities,” said Rep. Young Kim. “Many of these tools already exist, and innovators are developing even more, but too many face barriers to testing and adoption. I appreciate our fire chiefs, federal partners, and wildfire innovators coming together to identify where coordination breaks down. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Young Kim (CA-40) introduced a resolution recognizing October 5th as National Peroxisomal Disorder Awareness Day to raise awareness of these rare genetic disorders and recognize the patients and families impacted by them.
Peroxisomal disorders are estimated to affect roughly 1 in 50,000 births. These rare genetic conditions can affect nearly every system in the body, and severe forms are often terminal in childhood. Patients may experience hearing and vision loss, developmental delays, adrenal insufficiency, neurological complications, and feeding difficulties. There is currently no cure for peroxisomal disorders, and treatment options remain extremely limited.
For families, a diagnosis brings years of specialist visits, complex daily care, and financial and emotional strain, often with few answers along the way. For the Overly family of Lake Forest, this struggle is all too real. Brooke Overly's daughter Melody was diagnosed with a Peroxisomal Disorder. Melody's grandfather, Michael Curry, helped spearhead the effort to establish National Peroxisomal Disorder Awareness Day.
“After meeting Melody and her mother Brooke, I saw firsthand the strength it takes for a family to face a rare diagnosis with so few answers,” said Rep. Young Kim. “No parent should have to navigate a devastating diagnosis with so little information available about specialists, treatments, or what comes next. I’m proud to introduce this resolution to raise awareness of peroxisomal disorders, recognize families like the Overlys, and bring greater attention to the need for better understanding, treatments, and ultimately a cure.”

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) joined members of Orange County’s federal and state delegations in urging Governor Gavin Newsom to take immediate action to preserve $10 million in federal funding offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the Southern California Veterans Cemetery at Gypsum Canyon.
The VA offered $10 million through its Veterans Cemetery Grants Program after years of bipartisan work to move the project forward. However, the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) has indicated it does not plan to draw down the funding before the end of the federal fiscal year, putting the federal commitment at risk.
“Since my State Assembly days, I have fought tirelessly to ensure Orange County veterans have a proper place to rest, right here at home, and I am proud of the progress we have made,” said Rep. Young Kim. “Now, after a decade of work to secure federal support, Governor Newsom’s administration is prepared to leave $10 million on the table. Our veterans are growing older each day and should not be asked to wait any longer. California needs to protect these funds, keep this project moving, and get it past the finish line. Anything less is unacceptable.”
Federal funding through the Veterans Cemetery Grants Program is limited and appropriated annually, and there is no guarantee the $10 million currently available for Gypsum Canyon will remain available in a future fiscal year.
